Freeport Park District is seeking a full-time Utility Worker to be part of the Parks Maintenance Department. The ideal candidate shall be a responsible, safety-oriented team player that enjoys working outdoors. Experience in operating and maintaining equipment is required. Experience in maintaining landscape plantings preferred.
Duties: The Utility Worker will operate Park District equipment, including but not limited to trucks, skid steer loader, small excavator, chainsaws, wood chipper, tractors and mowers. Job duties will also include landscape maintenance tasks for planting, mulching, and weed control. Additionally, tree trimming; herbicide and pesticide applications; and other duties may be assigned by the Park Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have valid Illinois Driver’s License and experience with operating equipment. Must obtain a Class C driver’s license and an Illinois Pesticide Applicator’s License.
Closing Date: March 31, 2022
Starting Annual Salary: $32,000-$38,000 ($15.38-$18.27/hour)
