The Freeport Park District is pleased to report that construction is underway on the Krape Park South Entrance Project.
Several important steps have recently been completed. ComEd has finished relocating the utility pole that conflicted with the new roadway alignment, and Fischer Construction has completed installation of a drainage culvert serving the City of Freeport’s Pump 12 site. Helm Civil has now begun construction of the new entrance roadway.
As construction progresses, there will be a brief interruption in access from Woodside Drive to the bridge over Yellow Creek leading into the Flagstaff area of Krape Park. This temporary closure is necessary while the contractor excavates and prepares this section of the roadway.
Once excavation is complete, access will reopen with a temporary gravel surface while construction continues. Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians are asked to use caution and follow all construction signs and barricades when traveling through the area.

The Freeport Park District appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during construction. The South Entrance Project will provide an improved entrance into Krape Park and enhance access to the park when completed.
