Seeking Superintendent of Parks & Natural Resources

Freeport Park District is seeking an experienced manager to oversee
the District’s Parks department and natural resources management.

Qualifications: Must have Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Parks Management,
Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Urban Forestry or closely related field with
a minimum of 5 years of experience including 3 years supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of principles and practices forestry, horticulture, natural
resource management including restoration planning and implementation is
required. Candidates with the following training and certificates preferred;
Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP); Certified Pool Operator
(CPO) or equivalent; playground inspection (CPSI); pesticide spray application;
certifications with an associated horticulture or arboriculture association and
prescribed burns. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor
vehicle record.

Duties: Responsible for the professional work planning, organization and
management of Parks department operations and natural resources. Oversees
and manages day to day park department operations; park landscape planning;
horticultural and arboriculture evaluation and maintenance; preventative building
maintenance; custodial duties; maintenance of recreation facilities including
aquatics center; local and regional trail planning and maintenance; vehicle and
equipment fleet management; capital project oversight; and other duties as listed
in job description.

Closing Date: August 9, 2019
Starting Annual Salary: $68,000 – 72,000
