Freeport Park District is seeking an experienced technician to oversee building and systems maintenance.
Qualifications: Preferred professional certifications or an associate degree with a focus on plumbing, electrical or HVAC. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must acquire certified pool operator or aquatic facilities operator within 6 months of hire.
To be a successful Building Maintenance Technician, one should have the following skills: advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills for fixing maintenance issues; administrative skills for ordering supplies, keeping records, and scheduling maintenance; physical strength and dexterity to lift, move and handle equipment; strong verbal and written communication for discussing maintenance issues; ability to work in extreme hot or cold conditions; and organizational and time management skills.
Duties: The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep of Freeport Park District (FPD) buildings and public spaces. This professional is the systems specialist for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. The Building Maintenance Technician is the primary person for managing the swimming pool systems and building security systems. This professional maintains FPD’s buildings by making repairs and performing safety checks.
