This collaborative celebration is sponsored by the City of Freeport and Freeport Park District. On Friday, April 29, 2022, representatives from the City of Freeport and Freeport Park District will gather to commemorate Arbor Day and celebrate the Tree City designation that was recently awarded to Freeport.
Following the Tree City proclamation by Mayor Jodi Miller, Kiwanis Kids groups from Empire and Blackhawk schools will join in the celebration by planting trees in Krape Park near the Gunkel Shelter. There will be approximately 20-40 students in each group. The public is welcome to attend and talk to Bruce Cubberley, a certified arborist during Tree Q & A time. The event will take place rain or shine.
