Arbor Day & Tree City Celebration

On Friday, April 28th, 2023 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, representatives from the City of Freeport, Freeport Park District and Kiwanis Kids groups from local elementary schools will gather in Krape Park to commemorate Arbor Day and celebrate Freeport’s Tree City designation.
Following the Tree City proclamation by Mayor Jodi Miller, the Kiwanis Kids groups will learn about trees and help plant them. The students will rotate around 4 educational stations hosted by Master Gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension office and the NW Illinois Audubon Society. Bruce Cubberley, Superintendent of Parks & Natural Resources is a certified arborist and will guide tree planting. The public is invited to observe the activities.
