Did you know there’s a mini-arboretum surrounding the Taylor House at the Stephenson County Historical Society property on Carroll Avenue? Did you know one of the largest yellow birch trees listed in the Illinois register resides there?
On Arbor Day, Thursday, April 29th at 1:30 pm we’ll be strolling the grounds with Bruce Cubberley a certified arborist. Bruce is Superintendent of Parks & Natural Resources at the Freeport Park District and he’ll be joined by Sharon Welton, Executive Director of the SC Historical Society.
Following the 30 minute walk, both will be available to answer questions. The tour is free of charge, open to the public and will begin behind the Taylor. There is parking available on the property. If the weather is inclement, the walk will be postponed until Friday, April 30th at 1:30 pm.
